Grow the face of adversity

Psychologist Elizabeth Watson gave a lecture entitled "Growing the face of adversity" in the Dominican Writers Pavilion, in the framework of the XIV International Book Fair of Santo Domingo 2011. Watson

specialist in the management of families with disabled children, suggested that an important factor to overcome any crisis is the "resilience" skill "you can learn at any stage of life."

Resilience is the human ability to take difficult situations and flexibly to overcome them. "These people, despite adversity, is able to succeed, and succeed fortified, because they dare to live the process of acceptance of pain, discovering resources and strengths they did not know," said the specialist.

A resilient person is one with hope, which transforms reality, because "when the reality is monstrous must transform it to make it palatable. "

The conference ended with the specialist answering audience questions and providing guidance to the problems that people asked.
