The Ministry of Culture (MINC) and Directorate General of the Frankfurt Book Fair opened the halls of the Holy See and the Dominican Catholic Church in the Fourteenth International Book Fair of Santo Domingo 2011.
The event is chaired by Minister of Culture José Rafael Lantigua, accompanied by President of the Pontifical Council for Culture of the Holy See, Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, Cardinal Nicolás de Jesús López Rodríguez, the Papal Nuncio, Jozef Wesolowski, Bishop Benito de la Rosa and Monsignor Agripino Núñez Collado, among others.
The flag of the Holy See has over 15,000 books for sale, in more than 300 square meters. It has a permanent exhibition with two facsimiles, copies very precise, almost perfect, sculptures La Piedad and the Good Shepherd, by Michelangelo. In addition, a display of uniforms worn by the Swiss Guard, charged with protecting the Pope and a collection of manuscripts in the Vatican Apostolic Church, documents with a value important to the history of world culture. Books for sale are from different institutions and museums that make up the Vatican and is located in the parking lot of the National Theatre Eduardo Brito.
The pope's representative in the country Gianfranco Ravasi gave thanks for the love they have shown towards the Holy See and the affection with which they have received. He explained that the display shows a small part of the Vatican's cultural diversity and aims to show the relationship between faith and art.
also inaugurated the pavilion of the Catholic Church Dominican with the exhibition "500 Years of History" that shows objects invaluable historical value and are part of the church during its five centuries in the Americas. It is located on the first floor of the Museum of Dominican Man.
also has an exhibition showing the life and work of Francisco José Arnaiz prelates and José Luis Sáez, who is dedicated to the fair.
Cardinal López Rodríguez blessed both flags and thanked the Dominican State and the Holy Father Benedict XVI for his efforts for the realization of the IDF and all people who have come to enjoy these exhibits. The
